New York Giants Build a Foundation for a Hopeful Future After the 2025 NFL Draft

The 2025 NFL draft took place at Lambeau Field, home of the Green Bay Packers

The New York Giants selected seven notable players in the 2025 NFL draft between Thursday, April 24, to Saturday, April 26, with many sports analysts commending them on a successful draft class with high hopes for the future. After a disappointing 3-14 record in the 2024 season, this draft was essential for this organization to strive in 2025.

After losing their most notable offensive player in Saquan Barkely, who went on to win a Super Bowl last season with their rival Philadelphia Eagles, the organization decided to go for the defensive route. With the third overall pick in the first round of the NFL draft the New York Giants selected Abdul Carter, a defensive edge from Penn State University.

“Carter can take over and completely wreck an offensive game plan… He demands attention on every snap and that is going to free up everyone else around him," said NFL analyst Daniel Jeremiah. The Giants acquired two more defensive players this draft, Darius Alexander from Toledo and Korie Black from Oklahoma State.

One of the most skeptical picks in the 2025 NFL draft was the 25th overall pick, a quarterback from Ole Miss, Jaxson Dart. The Giants have been in need of a franchise quarterback since the days of Eli Manning, after a very disappointing tenure from Daniel Jones. Banking a 140$ million contract on the former Giant has led to many difficulties within the organization, commonly referred to as one of the worst sports contracts in recent history.

“I like the Giants' aggression with this move. Dart has everything needed to become a star quarterback in the NFL, except experience in a pro-style attack. He possesses a strong, accurate arm with good touch on the deep ball, agility, power and grit as a runner and the leadership skills expected at quarterback...The Giants are one of the better fits for Dart given the presence of Russell Wilson and Jameis Winston. As such, Dart won't be rushed onto the field and can develop at his own pace,” said Fox Sports’ Rob Rang.

The other three picks acquired by the Giants were Cam Skattabo, a running back for Arizona State; Marcus Mbow, an offensive lineman from Purdue; and Thomas Fidone II, a tight end from Nebraska. The organization acquired useful tools in their 2025 draft, all that’s left is to see how they perform in their respective careers as New York Giants.
